In 1995, I helped to found Upstart Crow Theatre Group in Toronto, Canada and became Artistic Producer the following year. Since then I have helped to mount nearly 20 productions and have had the pleasure to have worked with hundreds of artists. Upstart Crow continues to be a place for experimentation and exploration - a safe place to try, fail, succeed, and most importantly learn: about the creative process; all facets of theatrical production; and about what it is to be human. It's no wonder that so many Mutual Improvement Societies before the advent of mass schooling, used theatre as a means of bringing their members together for positive social interaction and creative expression. The world of theatre draws on the crafts and skills of every member of a community and utilizes them toward a common goal in a way that no other craft or art can accomplish. I encourage you to support - and start - theatrical endeavours in your own community.
