Those familiar spirits...
The
Crucible
focuses primarily on two stories: the Salem Witch trials of 1692
Massachusetts, and the private life of John Proctor. It then
explores the consequences when the private and social worlds slowly
collide in an arena of repression brought about by individual guilt,
mass hysteria, personal spite and collective evil.
An exciting exercise in Expressionism,
this production will render this contemporary classic into various
"scenarios" and travel beyond the repression of 1692 Salem to other
examples throughout history. Character identity will be broken down into
a more anonymous presentation by eliminating casting-bias based on
gender or sexual orientation.
